What are some ways I can contribute?

Basics forms of help and if we accept them or not:

  1. Community Support (forums)? Yes.
  2. Create Plug-ins? Soon.
  3. Donations? Not yet.
  4. Post News? Not on our site.
  5. Report Bugs? Eventually.
  6. Request Features? Not yet.
  7. Spread the Word? Please do.
  8. Work with Us? Maybe.
  9. Write Articles? Maybe, but not yet.

That covers what is and isn't accepted, and now here are the guidelines on the above forms of help:

  1. Community Support: You can be a great help to us by getting up close and personal with Prometheus, learning the ins and outs of it, and then taking that knowledge and helping struggling users on the forums.
  2. Create Plug-ins: Prometheus can be extended through the use of plug-ins. Creating plug-ins for tag formats we do not yet officially support will expedite full support for a game. We will be releasing information on how you can help soon.
  3. Donations: As generous and often necessary as donations are, we are not yet at a point where they are needed. You can read this question on donations for more information and then find another way to help out, if you like.
  4. Post news: We do not need any news posters for our site, we can handle our own news since it is so low volume. However if you have your own site and want to post news about us, please do!
  5. Reporting bugs: When you can download Prometheus is when you can start reporting bugs. We do not need beta testers for Prometheus, but we strongly encourage you to report any bugs you encounter once you are able to download Prometheus. We will have a bug report section of the site setup as well as a built-in bug reporting tool.

When it does come time to report bugs, please make sure that the bug you are submitting hasn't already been submitted by someone else. Reporting bugs helps us greatly improve stability and functionality, but duplicate bugs slow us down.
  6. Request features: Once Prometheus has been widely available for a few months, we will accept feature requests. We have plenty of ideas already written up to extend Prometheus, we haven't even begun to reach this application's full potential; please request features sparingly. Whenever submitting a feature request, make sure that another user hasn't already requested the same one.
  7. Spread the word: Help spread the word about Prometheus by letting talented map creators know. The more talented map creators that work with Prometheus, the better Prometheus will get. Not to mention we will see some very cool new maps.
  8. Work with us: Please read this question about working with us on Prometheus.
  9. Write articles: Once you're able to get your hands on Prometheus and master it, you may feel the need to share your wealth of knowledge. We plan to have a knowledge base setup for users in distress to access. If you think you have a significant article to contribute to the knowledge base, please feel free to contact us through the feedback form letting us know what the article is about.

We will consider your request and will email you back asking for your article as an attachment. Please do not paste your article in the feedback form, wait until we request it; this ensures that we have the time to properly evaluate your article when we are ready.

Thanks for wanting to help out with Prometheus; there is sure to be a way listed above that fits your abilities well. We hope to see your contributions soon.
