How do I request a feature?
Tags:

So you have this wonderful idea for Prometheus and you're not sure how to get it to us. Should you use the forums, feedback form, or send emails to random addresses on the halodev.org domain? No, none of the above, ever - unless you want to be ignored.

Fret not, for today's your lucky day; I'm going to tell you just what you need to do. It's quite simple, really, just use the issue tracker to submit a feature request to us. But wait, there's more!

There are a few things that you MUST keep in mind when submitting bug reports:

  1. We have tons of features already planned, enough to likely last us a few software releases. If we approve your feature request it will be prioritized and added when we have the time to add it, be patient.
  2. Ideas are like ... hearts, everybody has one. Please only submit ideas that are not obvious, for example, nothing like, "Add support for the fubr tag format." We know features like that must be added, so save yourself and us some time by not requesting them.
  3. Make sure you search the current feature requests for features similar to yours. If somebody else has posted a feature request like yours, please do not post it again with slightly different wording.
  4. Do not spam your idea in a feeble attempt to draw attention to it. This will just make us angry, and when we get angry, people die ... or just get banned from every place we can ban them from.
  5. The decision to include features is ultimately up to us, remember that you are making a request and we are not obligated to fulfill it.
  6. If your submission is denied, be sure to check the reason noted on the issue page. We may have denied your feature because it's already in Prometheus or we're already working on it. Don't flip out and resubmit denied requests, that's a sure fire way to get banned.

Stick to those basic rules and your request will be seen by soft eyes and open hearts ... or maybe we just won't ignore it.
