Prometheus Logo

This is one bit of news that was going to be saved for the next update, but since you can now see it all around you ... well, not much point to being all ninja-secretive about it.

Prometheus Logo

The logo may seem vaguely familiar to you and there's a good reason for that; our logo comes from what this project is all about - Halo. Well, technically it comes from Halo 2, but you know what we mean. The symbol-turned-logo represents the Covenant letter 'P'. That's right, it's magically tied to Prometheus by first letter alone! While the symbol representing 'P' certainly isn't a coincidence, it was chosen for more than that reason alone.

We chose this symbol because it represents three separate pieces that are held together in the same glyph and share a common theme. Prometheus, like the HEK, consists of three core pieces that, if excluded, would void its usefulness; these pieces are the world viewer, tag editor, and map compiler. Unlike the HEK, Prometheus combines these three essential pieces into a single application.

You may have also recognized that the background of the symbol looks quite a bit like the outer shell of a Halo, and that's because it is the outer shell of a Halo. Prometheus has always been an application focused on Halo - it's what we're about. Sure, we plan to support any other games sharing the same map format and engine, but the game that inspired us all to be a part of this project was the original Halo.

It's not the most original logo ever, so sue us. Wait! Actually, yeah, it would be great if you didn't do that Bungie; we love you! Now would be a good time to note that the symbol and the symbol's background are 100% property of Bungie Studios - not us. We're clear on that everybody? Okay, good. The Photoshopification was performed by Lightning so thanks (and legal threats) go to him.

While not totally original, the logo does represent what we're about and, more importantly, what Prometheus is about. Feel free to let us know what you think about the Prometheus logo in the comments section.
